This 3-day course combines ALL of the content of ICISF’s Assisting Individuals in Crisis & Group Crisis Intervention courses. Only those attending all hours of class will be issued certificates. Designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic, and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum, this course will prepare participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services for both the individual and for groups. Fundamentals of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) will be outlined and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several crisis interventions for individuals and groups. Program Highlights: Psychological crisis and psychological crisis intervention; Resistance, resiliency, recovery continuum; Critical Incident Stress Management; Basic crisis communication techniques; Common psychological and behavioral crisis reactions; SAFER-Revised model; Suicide intervention; Large and Small Group crisis interventions; Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD).
Instructor: Chaplain Dean Aithwaite is the Founder and CEO of Willamette Valley First Responder Chaplains (WVFRC) with 10 years serving as a First Responder Chaplain. Chaplain Dean has over 25 years in public safety, including military and fire service. He is an approved instructor with the International Critical Incident and Stress Foundation (ICISF) and serves on multiple peer support teams throughout the Valley, including Oregon State Police’s Health, Wellness & Resiliency Team.
